Craig Strent has been originating mortgages since 1994 and co-founded Apex Home Loans in 1998. He received a BSBA from the American University’s Kogod School of Business Administration, where he currently serves on the Alumni Board. For the past 7 years, Craig has been recognized by Mortgage Originator Magazine as one of the “Top 200 Loan Originators” in America.
Craig is among the 1% of mortgage brokers nationwide to earn both the Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist designation as well as the Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist designation. Craig has particular expertise in working with clients going through separation and divorce and has gone through both Mediation and Collaborative training.
As a result of his expertise across multiple disciplines, Craig is often turned to by both the local and national media for commentary on the mortgage and housing markets. He has appeared numerous times on CNBC as well as on the NBC Nightly News, NPR, and the Fox Morning News. In the past, Craig’s articles have appeared in several publications, including most recently a feature opinion piece in the Washington Business Journal on home buying.
Craig currently sits on the Board of Directors at the Greater Washington Board of Trade, where he coordinates the organization’s Ambassador Network, and has served as Membership Committee co-chair. In the past the Board of Trade has recognized Craig with awards as “Ambassador of the Year” and “Most Engaged Small Business Person.” Craig is also a member of Leadership Greater Washington and the Economic Club of Washington, DC.
He lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife Amy and boys Sammy & Ollie.
