Biography

Faith Dornbrand, with over 25 years of experience in Maryland and the District of Columbia, is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.  She has received the highest rating given by Martindale Hubbell lawyer rankings, and has repeatedly been named as a top family law attorney by Washingtonian Magazine, Super Lawyers Magazine,  and Best Lawyers. Faith attended the University of California School of Law (Boalt Hall), where she was an associate editor of the California Law Review.  Her undergraduate B.A. degree is from Yale University, where she graduated magna cum laude and with departmental honors, and where she was inducted into  Phi Beta Kappa.

Faith started her career at Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells). Subsequently, as a family law practitioner, her cases have frequently involved complex economic, domestic and international issues.

Faith is a certified Mediator and Arbitrator, and has been engaged by fellow attorneys to assist them in settling cases through neutral case evaluation and other alternative dispute resolution processes.  Faith first trained as a collaborative law practitioner in the mid-1990’s.  In addition to being a member of the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals (CDRP) practice group of Montgomery County, Maryland, she is also active in the District of Columbia Academy of Collaborative Professionals.  Faith has worked with individuals in the Collaborative Law process to help them resolve matters involving pre-nuptial agreements, property division, custody and support.

Family law issues often involve life-changing events.  Faith believes that non-litigation processes—mediation, collaborative law, and other non-litigation processes—allow individuals to craft solutions that will work for them, and to do so in a creative, dignified, and practical manner.  People want a future in which their children will be emotionally healthy and in which they and their children will be financially secure. Having handled hundreds of family law cases over her career, Faith is dedicated to helping individuals achieve these goals in an individualized, efficient, and successful process.
