Suzanne is a collaboratively-trained family law attorney, mediator, and parenting coordinator who has been practicing family law exclusively since 2009. Suzanne strives to advocate for her clients’ best interests while helping them navigate the personal challenges involved in divorce and custody matters. Every family is unique. Suzanne believes that, whenever practicable, resolution in family cases is best reached through mediation, negotiation, and/or collaboration, and works with clients to achieve the best possible outcome.
Prior to a legal career, Suzanne taught Spanish to middle school children in Baltimore, and facilitated leadership workshops for high school students from across the country. While working for D.C. Public Schools, she taught anger management, classroom management, and mediation to administrators, teachers, and students. In addition, Suzanne mediated student-student conflicts, student-teacher conflicts, and gang-related conflicts. For many years, she worked for a national literacy organization, advocating for government and community agencies to provide books for under-privileged children.
Suzanne has a strong sense of empathy for the children involved in family conflicts. She has been appointed by courts in multiple jurisdictions to represent children’s interests as a Best Interest Attorney, a Child Advocate Attorney, and a Child Privilege Attorney. In addition to being appointed by the court, Suzanne has been privately retained to represent children who qualify under Maryland law to file on their own behalf.
Suzanne earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. She also has a Master of Arts in International Communication and Conflict Resolution from American University.
Suzanne is a member of the Maryland Bar Association, the Bar Association of Montgomery County, the Bar Association of Frederick County, and the Women’s Bar Association. She has been designated as a Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2015 – 2019, and a Super Lawyer in 2020.
