I believe that collaborative law is the most effective way to divorce. If you are interested in an approach that meets the interests for all family members, then collaborative law might be the appropriate avenue to take. I became certified as a collaborative trained lawyer in 2008 and have been working in litigated settlements since 1986.  A divorce will cause a physical separation, but if you are a parent then the relationship with your spouse will continue through your children for generations.  What impact and legacy do you want to leave? How you divorce, the values that are important to you such as family, independence, love, trust, compassion are readily available and encouraged in the collaborative process and grace your family.

I offer divorcing parties a choice: in mediation we have the option to work with collaborative parenting and financial coaches. While as an attorney I can represent you in the collaboratives/settlement process. We shape the process together so your psychological and financial benefits are optimized within the framework of the law.

I work as an attorney – mediator – arbitrator with over 30 years’ experience dedicated to dispute resolution and interpersonal, family, organizational conflict. I facilitated, mediated and worked towards settlement on hundreds of family law cases. I trained attorneys in negotiation and conflict resolution in the public and private sectors. I served as a federal mediator and was appointed as a mediator for cases involving the States of California, New York, Maryland and the Navajo Nation. I work with all Courts in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. I also serve as a mediator/arbitrator on behalf of the September 11, 2001, Victim Compensation Fund.

I received my Bachelor of Business Administration from Adelphi University in the study of organizational dynamics. I received my Juris Doctor degree from Antioch University School of Law – with advanced clinical studies in Family Law. In addition, I have taken LLM level courses at George Washington University Law School in contract law, was trained in advanced mediation and negotiation at Harvard Law School’s Program On Negotiation, and received hundreds of hours in training on all aspects of conflict management. I practice before the Courts in Maryland, the District of Columbia and the US Supreme Court. I am a member DC Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Collaborative of Dispute Resolution Professionals, Maryland Council on Dispute Resolution, the Maryland Conflict Resolution Office – Program on Mediator Excellence, the Maryland State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

‘We build a structure of trust, effective communication and understanding to devise solutions that are sustaining and durable.’
